From a pastoral perspective:

YES: Be authentic. (Tell the whole church this.) Don't be afraid of your own screw ups. Only brainwashed people trust a preacher/person who acts like he's Jesus instead of pointing everyone towards Jesus.

NO: I just don't know about the whole visualization/affirmation stuff.

Ummm. . . at the point that you have to use mental camera tricks to convince yourself that it's going to go well. . . maybe it's just me. . . but I feel like I can't trick myself. . . because I am myself. . . And isn't tricking yourself called denial?
