Why did a man kill 32 people and himself at Virginia Tech on Monday?
Why is his face on every cable news channel tonight?
Why are his words being quoted on every news channel tonight?
Why is the media making this guy a rockstar...a hero for the next would-be shooter?
Oh, because he sent a package to NBC with some videos, writings, and photos? Hmmm...guess we're doing exactly what he wanted us to do. Does this make sense to anyone?
Check out Tim Sanders' take here.
Hey Jay. you couldn't be more right on this one. I'm in disbelief, other than common decency, NBC also lacks any hint of professionalism in how they have handled their delivery.

Jay
I don't think it's a good idea to make him a rock star but it is the duty of a new outlet to supply the information. With the finding of the tape we got his motive and reasoning. Had NBC hogged the tapes and squelched them it is more than likely it would have leaked and it could have been a very damaging scandal.
Now that the information has come out there is the copycat effect but on the other side of the coin people are more aware of what to look for. There were clues that lead up to the event and it was thought to have been handled.
On Tim Sanders link he mentioned the logo, most likely that was a copyright thing (I'm not saying it couldn't have been done better).
I'm really sorry I have to disagree but I think that the tapes coming out will make him famous and give him his own posthumous wishes but also a glimpse into the mind of someone who was truly disturbed. Families probably want a bit of closure and it's possible that this could help
PS. How is the Ishmael Beah book I saw it in Starbucks and it interested me.
